His name was Muataz Washaha and he came from the West Bank village of Birzeit, Palestine.
I have to warn you that this video of his family carrying his body moments after he was shot is not for the faint-hearted.
At 3 a.m. today Israeli forces disguised as Arabs and Israeli soldiers surrounded the Washaha family home demanding that Muataz Washaha and his two brothers give themselves in for suspected “terror activity”. The two brothers were captured and the rest of the family walked out but Muataz refused to obey the orders of his occupiers and took cover inside for several hours. Israeli bulldozers were then called in, causing significant damage to the structure.
According to local witnesses, Muataz gave himself up at around 10 a.m. and was then executed by the Israeli forces in front of the house with a shot to the head. Several school students were witnesses to the execution.
After the execution the forces shot the house, setting it on fire. Palestinian firefighters rushed to the scene.

Now, why did Muataz simply not just give himself in? Aside from the fact that Palestinians in the West Bank live under brutal Israeli occupation and these soldiers should not be in Palestine in the first place:
It’s no surprise that the killing of this man took place on the same morning as Amnesty International publishing a report condemning Israeli forces as ‘trigger-happy’ and displaying a callous disregard for human life. You can read the report here.
